Emilio Pucci RTW Fall 09
Chunky Knits.
Cables & twists from thick wool create a soft however structured look,
Winter must have.

What is a Staple anyway...?

Simply the Basics,
The essentials which make up a well rounded wardrobe from season to season, the staples "barely" change.
A staple item should be able to alternate between many an outfit, occasion and season they are those old favourites which a large number of us hold onto year after year until it can't possibly be washed once more without falling to pieces.
The marvelous Mr Guy and I decided over an "I've had better" iced chocolate & burnt latte that rather than spending $20-$200 on that staple piece you've realised you been without since it faded, the seams split & it somehow managed to acquire coffee stains, Spending that bit extra on a staple piece which might just outlast you is a good idea.
Amon Avis La Mode.. the staple pieces of your wardrobe should include the following:
Tote
Trench & Light Jacket
Boots & Court Shoes
Sunglasses
Pant/Skirt Suit
The Little Black Dress
Jeans
Camisole & Fitted Blouse

Save your pay packet and when you can check off theses items.
Just remember, quality is a wiser move than quantity when regarding staples.

The Jumpsuit
Its a tricky one ladies but when worn the right way can look absolutely stunning.
As a "general" rule opt for a jumpsuit with a wide leg & clinched waist, often the skinny leg or genie style pants can give the illusion that the hips are quite large, However the wide leg draws our eyes up from the bottom of the pant to the waist making the waist look small.
Top your jumpsuit off with a chunky belt or long necklace this draws attention to the waist which creates a very feminine look.

New take on Classic White Blouse, YSL RTW Fall 09
The crisp white fabric contrasts beautifully with the draping around the neck and sleeves.
Gorgeous version of a classic piece.

Is too much Too Much?

I recently had a heated discussion with a fellow family member regarding ones amount of clothing.

Who's place is it to say that another has too much choice in their wardrobe.

Is this such a bad thing?

Is too much ever too much?

In my opinion.. Are you serious, No. No and never!

How can somebody expect to live life to the fullest if they only have a select amount of outfits to live it in!?

Could it be jealously that provoked this outburst of the proverbial "two cents"?

The accused thinks "i".

Its not a bad thing to have an array of clothing all lined up nicely and bulging out of your closet.

Are you a victim of fashion obsession?

Well if the stiletto fits, I say Wear it and wear it with pride!

The Pant-suit Givenchy RTW fall 09
A definate must have for this season, Such a classic outfit in so many shapes, styles, cuts, colours, fabrics.. the list is endless. Elegance with edge.

Recession, I love you..

In this day and age fashion is so vast, the amount of designers, fabrics, silhouettes, models and technology that create the beautiful salad of fashion is amazing.
We all lap it up everyday and unknowingly contribute to the world of fashion in our own little way.
And as it is said (and I do say this on a regular basis) "Variety is the spice of life" so grab the jar with both hands and douse your life at will.

Fads and trends are out the window and in my opinion, Thank God!
The aggrivation and frustration that overwhelmed me when I'd see a trend swept across the room covering every women's body when it was so obvious this fad was intended for a women of much different shape, was unbearable.
Yes, sure, she can wear it with pride and walk like she has just stepped off the catwalk in Milan however the fact still stands that this outfit would better suit her best friend.
This scenario I have seen decreasing in numbers lately and Im over the moon, Thank you Recession you are a darling!

I've put it down to recession because women wont buy a fad in tough times, simple as that.
They want classic pieces that suit there body type so they can look stylish, feel fabulous and still afford that goodmorning coffee which has been a good friend Mon-Fri.
I too would much prefer a good friend to a temporary one whos in and out in one season.
The variety is phenomenal and is due to the large number of body types.
I believe it to be so beautiful to see each and every women excentuating hers in her own way.
Dont get me wrong, even before recession came into play women were cluey to this but Ive found in this time of crisis its mushroomed.
Couldn't be happier, its as if when money is scarce and jobs are at risk women take a good look at themselves and say "Alright, How can I still look divine which will give me confidence that will make me perform better at work which will help to secure my job that will pay my bills in turn making home life more comfortable which will make me more comfortable within myself ?"... hmm.. In tough times strategies need to be developed so our lives run more smoothly and just from taking a look around me I've come to the conclusion that "clothes will save our lives".
Trends have always been and will always be expensive, If you dress to suit your body type, you cant go wrong. You'll look good and so will your purse.
